A fingerprint examiner provides advice, guidance, reports and statements of evidence regarding the identification of individuals by comparing friction ridge detail of fingers, palms and feet.

A fingerprint examiner is a recognised expert who has successfully completed an accredited UK national training and assessment programme to advanced level, or who has been authorised by the Scottish Executive, or who has demonstrated expertise to an equivalent standard.
