Stage B - assessment

When we receive your completed revalidation form, we set a timetable of three months for the assessment to be completed. Your revalidation will move on to Stage C once the assessors have made their recommendation.

In general the assessment follows the same pattern as when you first applied. Your revalidation form will be sent to the lead assessor for your specialty. However, they will choose a different specialty assessor to carry out the main part of the assessment.

Your specialty assessor will set a deadline for you to provide case details. If you cannot meet this, please contact the specialty assessor to let them know. If you are having difficulty reaching them, please contact us instead.

As part of the renewal process each year we have asked you to complete an annual registration return form. This is so that we can build a picture of your professional development during the previous twelve months. Your assessors will also take the information provided on your annual registration return forms into account.

If we have not received one or more of these back from you, you may be asked to submit more casework than other registrants to compensate for the missing information. How much casework you need to submit is at the discretion of the specialty assessor and is decided on a individual basis.

The lead and specialty assessor will then recommend whether we should revalidate your registration. As before, a negative outcome will lead to a second assessment.
