What it shows
Along with the name of each person in the
register you will
find the name of one or more
specialties. These describe the fields in
which we believe, following a careful assessment, that person is
currently competent to do forensic work.
For example, the person might be registered in
fingerprint
examination,
collision investigation or odontology, or be a scientist who
specialises in the analysis of drugs or
questioned
documents. In some areas the work can be even more
specialised, so these groups are broken down further into
subspecialties. So the register will always show a practitioner's
particular field(s) of activity.
For every practitioner, the register also shows:
- Their gender,
- Some contact information
- The region of the UK in which they practise,
- The period for which they are registered.
The register was never intended to be a directory. Registrants have
the option whether to provide a postal address because of concerns
over personal security.
