How to search it
You can confirm someone's registration by searching our
online register; it is updated daily, so it always
gives the latest position on who is registered. This gives it an
advantage over traditional printed or CD-based
registers.
To perform a simple search to check whether a particular
practitioner is on the register, enter their surname into the
search box at the top right corner of every page.
If you do not know how to spell the person's name, or if you want
to search the register by different criteria, click on the
'Advanced search' button instead.
There are a range of fields by which you can search the register.
For example, you could search by registration number or company
name by typing into the appropriate boxes. Or you can select
a specialty or region from
the dropdown lists.
Click on the 'Search now' button at the bottom of the page. The
register will then produce a list of results that match what you
searched for. The list will show some registration information
about the practitioner(s). However, to view the full register entry
of a practitioner, click on their name.
- If you searched for a registration number, there is likely only
to be one matching result.
- If you searched for a surname, you will get a list of people
who have that as the current or previous surname in their
entry.
- If you searched for a specialty, you will see a list of all the
people registered in that specialty.
To narrow down your results, try searching the register by more
than one field at a time - for example, surname and
specialty.
We cannot recommend one practitioner or forensic provider over
another. Every practitioner on the register has reached the
standard of safe, competent practice. If you are looking for
someone to undertake forensic work, you must make this
choice.
