Roles
At the heart of our
registration scheme is assessing
practitioners' competence on the basis of recent case
work.
One of our fundamental principles is that all applications for
registration are scrutinised by a registered practitioner from the
same specialty. This process of peer assessment is what sets us
apart from most other regulatory bodies. Our assessors are crucial:
they help us to ensure that standards of competence in forensic
practice are carefully checked and maintained.
There are three roles within the assessment process:
Each role is held for a 3 year period and is then normally renewed
for another 3 years. The appointment, training, activity and
proficiency of our assessors is overseen by the
Sector Assessment Panels
