Drugs chemists deal with controlled substances. Their job
is to identify and quantify drugs, discover their chemical make up
and analyse their chemical impurities.
Their work involves deciding about bulk and trace samples, choosing
the right way to analyse them, interpreting their findings and
putting together different hypotheses. Where more than just drug
evidence is involved, for example where packaging is part of the
evidence, the work involves liaison with other practitioners such
as specialists in
Marks or
Fingerprint examination.
